LAUGH OUT LOUD THEATER GRAND OPENING EVENT IN SCHAUMBURG
The former Chicago Comedy Company under new ownership, now with kitchen and bar.
Schaumburg, IL (May 15, 2008) – The drive for great improv comedy for Northwest Suburban residents just got shorter. Laugh Out Loud theater is now open with two performances every Friday and Saturday night in the Streets of Woodfield, just south of the Woodfield Mall. On Friday, June 13 there will be a special grand opening celebration with “mini-shows” at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 9 p.m., along with free drinks, hors d’oeuvres, prizes, and a chance to see the revamped space and meet the ensemble and staff.
At Laugh Out Loud, every uproarious show is completely improvised on the spot based upon audience suggestions in the style of the TV show “Who’s Line Is It Anyway,” except without Drew Carey. Although if you know Drew Carey have him call us. We’d love to have him on our stage. The 7:30 performances are always guaranteed to be family appropriate and fun for all ages; the 9:30 shows are geared more towards adults and usually tend towards a PG-13 rating.
Upon taking ownership, new head honcho Lillie Frances got right to work renovating the old Chicago Comedy Club space, upgrading the décor and stage, casting some fresh faces, and most importantly, adding a kitchen and full bar. Unlike other comedy venues, Frances decided against having a drink minimum. “Our show is entirely based upon suggestions, so we only suggest you have a drink rather than require it, but we do have drink specials every Friday. I’m just saying…”
Frances also held auditions, hiring additional cast from Chicago including veterans of various comedy establishments such as Second City, ImprovOlympic, The Annoyance, ComedySportz and more. Next was the name change to “Laugh Out Loud,” which is reflected on the signage in front of the theater, located conveniently in the Streets of Woodfield, at the end near Dick’s Sporting Goods and next door to Citibank. Chicago Comedy Company is now the corporate entertainment and training division of Laugh Out Loud, where the cast and crew design hilarious customized performances and memorable workshops for corporations, colleges, and organizations across the country.
Laugh Out Loud theater has cabaret-style seating for 100 and is spacious yet intimate, with no seat more than 30 feet from the action on stage. “I wanted to create an atmosphere where you could bring a date, a bachelorette party, an outing of co-workers, or your whole family and everyone would have a great time,” said Frances. “We can even get members of your group on stage to be a part of the show! Plus the improvisational nature guarantees that no two shows are alike.” And if that taste of the stage isn’t enough, LOL offers classes for adults, as well as summer camps for kids and teens.
Reserve your free tickets to the grand opening celebration on Friday, June 13 by calling the box office at (847) 240-0386. Tickets prices for the regular shows are $18 for adults, $12 for kids 18 and under, and $15 for seniors. Group rates are available. There is ample free parking at the Streets of Woodfield.
